OPI Pure Lacquer Nail Apps in Peacock (& Application Tips!)

OPI recently came out with these new Pure Lacquer Nail Apps!  They are nail strips made of real nail polish and apply like stickers to your nails.  I got them in three different designs: Pink and Black Lace (creme), Peacock (creme), and Girly Glam (glitter).  I love how the packaging looks; very sleek.

This is the Peacock design I'm reviewing today.  It looks kind of orange in some of the pictures, but the base is red with yellow peacock designs.  From a distance, it can look red-orange because of the way your eyes meld the colors together.  I can't say I'm too crazy about the color scheme for this design.  I thought it would be pink and yellow from the promo pics, which I would have preferred.  Or at least some sort of peacock-like color would have been nice...

Now let's see how Peacock looks on my nails. :)  I didn't have a bottle to hold, so here I am awkwardly holding another nail app.

This was my second attempt at applying nail strips.  I think my application was pretty good, if I may say so myself.  I also made sure to cover my tips this time around.  By the way, there is a lot of product that comes for a "one-time application" nail app, so I suggest you take advantage of it.  After wasting the excess nail strips from my first experience, I decided to grab my mom this time around.  With one nail app, I was able to cover both of my hands, my toes, and my mom's toes!  These aren't cheap, so grab a friend and have a nail party!  You can get the most use out of them this way.

If you look closely you can see it on my toes as well.  But don't look too closely, I'm wearing really ugly men's sandals...

Here are a few tips on sharing:
  • Don't peel each strip off at once, and don't cut them in half either.  What you want to do is, peel the strip halfway, or however much you need for your nail and cut only the strip.  This way whoever uses the other half can easily peel it off the backing.  If you cut it with the backing, the person without the tab will have to pick at the sticker a bit to get it off.
  • Save the rounded edges for fingers, then use whatever is remaining for toes.  If you need to, cut rounded edges for your toes.  Your toes will look great even without much precision, while your fingers are subject to more scrutiny.

And here's a picture of my tips.  I was able to cover most of them.  To do this, make sure the nail app is smooth against your nail.  Cut off the excess, but leave a little to cover your tips.  Now fold the excess underneath your nail.  You can let the excess crinkle up underneath your nail, but make sure the nail app stays smooth on the surface of your nails.  Now take a file and file the under edge of your tips.  Here's what I mean.

Orange: covered tip // Red: under edge of nail tip

Do you like my little MS Paint picture?  I hope this helps though.  Covering the nail tip is essential because it'll prolong your wear by tenfold.  I had immediate tip wear the first time when I didn't cover my tips.  With my tips covered, I had minimum tip wear on the 6th day.  This could easily go 10 days and still look decent.  I also wore Seche Vite top coat over it, and that helped keep all the the edges down.

Wow, this was a lengthy post, but I hope it was helpful!  Since I have now reviewed two different brands of nail polish strips, I plan on doing a follow up comparison review.  Please check back then to see which one I recommend more! :)
