Franken: The Other Heather

Hey all!

Yesterday was really sunny!  Max got to run around outside, so he was happy little dog.  And while I was outside, I took some pics of this polish.  Meet The Other Heather.  :)

Chubby pinky -_-
Don't mind the white doodles I did.  After taking some pics, I got bored and drew on them because I didn't think I was going to be taking more pictures of it.  But after uploading my pics and seeing that the camera didn't pick up the true color at all, I went back out to give it another try.  And yes, this is a franken made by yours truly.  This was my first time making a franken, and I can understand why people do it.  It's so calming to watch polish (especially glitter) pour into another bottle, and so exciting to shake it up and watch it mix. :)

The Other Heather is a dusty greyple with multicolored shimmer and glitter.  What is a greyple you ask?  A greyple is short for grey blurple (blue-purple).  I just made that up.  No matter how hard I tried to get the true color to show up, I really couldn't.  It's definitely an interesting color.  In some indoor lighting it looks like a grey indigo.  In others it looks dark grey.  Most of the time it looks grey blurple.  Outside in the sunlight, it looks grey purple with some blue undertones.  For the most part, I classify this as being more purple than blue.  The shimmer in here is multicolored, but white and blue are the most dominant.  The pink shimmer seems to be only visible in sunlight.  For the glitter I used mostly Wet n Wild's Party of Five Glitters, but I also added a little bit of Milani Gems.  The polish also contains some blue, green, and yellow micro glitter.  If I were to make this again, I would probably skip adding Pof5 and Gems.  They look a bit random.

And...I talked a lot.  Again.  So here's some picture spam. :)  I recommend clicking on the pics to see the shimmer.  These were all 3 coats, but it was opaque in two.

They should make anti-stick polish bottles.  I hate how the glitters sticks to the sides.  Makes me want to scrape it off!

Indoors

How'd I do?  My 10 year old brother thought it only looked nice in sunlight.  It does look nicer in sunlight, but I thought the color wasn't too bad.  I think it's surprisingly soft and girly for a dark dusty color.  I may be biased cause I made it though. :P

Oh yeah, and I named it The Other Heather because it reminded me of Heather flowers and Heather grey.  I don't know, I associate the name Heather with grey. -_-  The color is clearly not anything like that of Heather flowers or Heather grey...so it's The Other Heather. :)

NOTD: Rain, Rain, Go Away

It hasn't been that sunny these past few days, so I haven't really been swatching much.  My pictures don't come out that great unless I have plenty of natural lighting. :/  Today was no exception.  It's dark and gloomy out and earlier there was a crazy downpour of rain.  In hopes of sunnier days, I did a mani that I hope would appeal to the weather gods. :P

I wanted to do an ombre mani, but didn't have enough similar blues.  So I tried my best to lighten some colors with glitter. :P  See how the sky and clouds "gradually" get lighter. :)  On my pinky I drew a nice summery sun.  On my ring finger (third from the right), I used BYS Color Change Royal Blue.  It's actually really nice because it changes lighter or darker, so depending on my temp it gives the ombre a different transition in color.  My favorite is when it's darker toward the tips, cause then it's like the sky is turning lighter...quite literally.

With flash
Here's a complete list of polishes I used for this mani: China Glaze First Mate, BYS Color Change Royal Blue, Essie Coat Azure, Sally Hansen Gray by Gray, Revlon Cloud, Revlon Sheer Cotton, Hard Candy Hick, Sinful Colors Hottie, SC Unicorn, LA Colors Wave Length, Milani Nail Art white.  If you look closely in the flash pic, you might notice a very subtle pink shimmer.  That's from Hard Candy Hick, which I'll review once it gets sunnier.

Hopefully you guys are experiencing better weather!  Max and I are so ready for some more sun.

That window needs some cleaning...

OPI DS Extravagance

Hello~
Hope you guys are all enjoying your weekend. :)  Here's a quick post before I go to bed. *yawn*

This is OPI DS Extravagance, a gorgeous wine colored holo.  In some lightings it can be more purple toned, but for the most part I'd say this is a lovely cool wine color.  It sort of reminds of berries too. :P  This one's a scattered holo, but I like to say speckled.  There's these white specks in the polish, which I think are from the scattered pieces of holo in this polish.  This applied well and was opaque in three thin coats.  Don't apply this too thinly though, you may not notice when you're applying because it's highly pigmented, but in the sun I noticed that there were some bald spots of holo.  They weren't noticeable indoors because color wise it was opaque.  Overall, this was so gorgeous.  This is my first DS polish and I adore it.  I definitely think this is worth its price. :)

I've also been dealing with a dilemma these past few days.  You see, I have this nasty crack half way down the grown out part of my middle nail. :(  It's weird because it's more like a peeled crack, since it didn't crack all the way.  This means polish is getting stuck in between, and it won't come out no matter how much I go over it with my remover.  This also means it's getting harder to wear sheer or light colors.  So now I must make a decision- should I leave it and file it away slowly over time hoping it won't get worse...or do I just cut it?  I honestly cannot bring myself to cut it though.  I feel so silly debating this over in my head though.  I think the old me would have rolled her eyes and told me to cut it. :P  *sigh*  This is the longest I've ever grown my nails though and all my other nails are fine.  If only it wasn't on the hand I photograph.  I don't know what I'll do. -_-

Liquid Jelly 100 Follower Giveaway & Thanks! **CLOSED**

I was originally going to post the giveaway on Monday, but I couldn't wait anymore!  So it's finally here, my 100 follower giveaway.  Thank you for being patient and waiting. :)  I was actually hoping to also have a sponsored prize by China Glaze, because I wasn't sure if I could make this international.  China Glaze's Anchors Away collection is actually what really got me into nail polish and blogging.  And Kellie Gonzo's nail blog Also Known As..., which was the first nail blog I followed!  That's where I saw the Anchors Away swatches and became interested.  So that's kind of how this blog started. :)  Unfortunately, I contacted CG a bit late (bad planning on my part), so I've been waiting to see if there would be a reply these past few days.  But I can't wait anymore, so here it is!

One lucky winner will win all of the 7 polishes shown below.  I know it's not the best or most expensive, but it's a little something to say thank you for following me! :)

Here's what you can win: Sinful Colors Let's Meet, Milani Gems, Sephora by OPI Fancy Schmancy, OPI Black Shatter, Wet n Wild Glitz, WnW Through the Grapevine, WnW Rain Check!  The Milani Gems shown here is mine, which is why it's not full.  The one being given away is new and unused.  All of these polishes were purchased by me and are new and unused.  I've also decided to make this international.

Fill out the form below to enter! You must be public GFC follower.  This is so I can check that you are following.  Please please write your GFC name, not your real name (unless that's your GFC name) and make sure it matches up to the one that shows in the GFC box.  I don't want to disqualify any more people!  More specific instructions are in the form, so please read them carefully or your entries may be disqualified.  Also please be honest!  I will check everything.

*Note: Sorry guys!  The LEX voting round with my color has ended.  I thought it was going to go until the end of June, but I guess not.  So that option is no longer available.  There are still plenty of ways to get extra entries! :)

The giveaway will end on July 1 at 11:59 pm US central time!

The winner will be chosen via random.org.  Have fun and good luck! :)

You can also enter my Sigma Beauty brush giveaway here.

Yay package & a big thanks!

I finally got another one of my polish giveaways in the mail today.  It actually came two days ago, but I had to sign it and I wasn't in, so they brought it today. :)  This one's from Marie of Mon coin à moua, all the way from France!  Thank you Marie!  If you're not following her blog, please go take a look.  I love to read her posts and she recently did one on Unicorn Pee! (aka Clarins 230 :P)  I don't know about you, but I love reading about that polish...partly because I'll never own it T_T.

Well, here are the 10 polishes I chose from her giveaway prizes:

How cute is that Asos Paint bottle! :3  I think I'm most excited about swatching the magnetic metallics and Urban Decay Bruise (the purple bottle).  So be on the lookout for these in future posts! :)

Okay I'm off!  I just wanted to share this with you before I headed out to meet with the bf.  I have a couple polishes swatched and a nail art, so I'll post one of those tonight when I get back.  The sun is starting to come out again, so hopefully I'll be able to get some nice sparkly pics!  I'm wearing OPI DS Extravagance right now and it's amazing. :)

Until later,

Liz

-edit-
Got back later than I thought and I'm pooped! I wanted to get a post out so I've been editing pics, but I think I really need to sleep.  So I'll post that tomorrow. :)

NOTD: Revlon Cloud

It's not that sunny yet, since it's morning.  I'm hoping it'll get a bit sunnier in the afternoon, because I want to swatch some more!  I won't be able to in the next two days because it's going to rain.  Boo.  Anyway on to today's post!

Revlon Cloud is a pastel cool-toned purple with blue undertones.  It doesn't look like the pics. :(  I tried to fix the color but I couldn't get it to match the color on my nail and my skin was turning magenta. :P  So you'll just have to go see this one for yourself in store.  The color in the bottle will be the color on the nail.  Maybe a tad bit lighter.  In the pics I'm wearing 4 coats, but I know for a fact that this is a two-coater.  I tried to apply it in thin coats and ended up with brush gouges in the polish, so it took 4 coats to fix it.  In the end, I pretty much fixed it with two thick coats.  So save yourself time, and just do two thick coats for lovely opaque creamy smooth color. :)  This one also delivers on the top speed claim.  It dries pretty quickly, so 2 thick coats shouldn't be a problem.  Overall, I'm super impressed!  Fast drying, non streaky, 2 coater pastel and not expensive?  Love!

China Glaze Blue Iguana

Here's a short post!  Enjoy :)

Blue Iguana is a bright cerulean blue with shimmer.  The shimmer has a very slight pink duochrome to it that shows up at certain angles.  The pink is really pretty so I wish it would show up better.  You can't really see it on the nail, but if you look at the bottom rim of the bottle you can see what the pink shimmer looks like.  Although the blue is extremely pigmented, this is very sheer.  I'm wearing four coats here and you can still see VNL.  The formula seems a little gloopy-ish(?), but I had no problems with application.  Blue Iguana also reminds me of kid's toothpaste. :P  I don't mean that in a bad way though.  If you have kids or young siblings you might know.  I forgot what brand but there's a kid's toothpaste that's this color blue and shimmery, even this kind of jelly-ish finish.  I don't know...maybe I'm weird. :P  Wait...that's not a maybe...

Oh yeah, this will stain your nails so base coat is a must!  It'll also stain your fingers when you remove it. :/  So that quickly brought my swatching session to a halt.  But it's prettier than I expected it to be, so I'm glad I got it. :)

Anyway, that's it for now!

NOTD: Pink Leopard Print Nails

Hey all :)

I just wanted to show you what I'm wearing today. :)  I've seen a lot of leopard manis these days, so I decided to try my hand at it.  How do you think I did?

My mom bought me a few polishes at Ulta yesterday.  So when I got home, I got to cross 5 polishes off my wishlist. :P  And then I was too excited to swatch so I just did a mani. :P  But I'll post swatches of the polishes in the upcoming days. ^^  Curious to see what I got?

I also got a free Orly polish at Ulta!  There's a coupon for it on The Trace Face Philes.  I saw all three colors you can get and they're all pretty!  So definitely go pick that up when you're there next. :)  The polishes I got from Ulta were OPI DS Extravagance, OPI Mermaid's Tears, OPI Sparrow Me the Drama, and Orly It's Up to Blue.  I wanted the silver shatter too, but it wasn't there!  They didn't even have black shatter. o_O  I also picked up China Glaze Seniorita Bonita and Blue Iguana at Sally's.  I really wanted China Glaze 108 Degrees but it was all sold out.  I asked the girl working there when they'd restock but apparently they won't because it's a 1 month thing? D;  Gah...that was the one I wanted most after Seniorita Bonita.  Oh well...hopefully I'll find it somewhere else.

For the leopard mani, I used OPI Sparrow Me the Drama and DS Extravagance for the spots, if you were wondering. :)  And check out that cute bag I got for free at Ulta.  You can't really see it though, because I put the polishes on it and zoomed in. :P

Hope you're all enjoying your Sundays. :)

Ozotic Pro #503 Rainforest & 100+ Followers/ 2 month blog-o-versary

Yay I'm finally done picking out pictures and editing them.  I had so many pictures that it took a while to decide which ones I wanted to use.  It was also a lot sunnier today than yesterday (when I took these)!  Such a shame.  I did snap one more today, so you can see how it looks in full sunshine. :)

Ozotic Pro 503 is a multichrome that is for the most part different shades of green, such as emerald, moss/forest green, olive, and jungle green.  If you're not sure what jungle green is try googling 'jungle green Crayola.' :)  There are also shades of red/copper which can tend to look brown with the green.  I've also seen turquoise, blue and purple at certain angles.  I recommend using a base coat with this since it's very sheer and doesn't build up.  For my swatches, I used 2 coats of Sinful Black on Black on my index and middle, and 2 coats of China Glaze First Mate on my ring and pinkie.  Basically, my theory is if it can be layered over black, it can be layered over a dark blue/navy. :)  And First Mate is such a nice color. ^^  For the Ozotic Pro, I used 2 coats.
Index & Mid: Black,  Ring & Pinkie: Blue

Today I was looking at my nails and I thought it might look nice with copper glitter, so I used a coat of Sally Hansen Snappy Sprinkes and $OPI Traffic Stopper Copper to see how it would look.  Snappy Sprinkles seems to blend in with the polish, but Traffic Stopper looks really nice!  I think it brings out the copper in 503 and keeps it from looking too brown.  What do you think?  Also which layering combo do you like the best?  Let me know in the comments! :)
In full blazing sunshine
Overall, I enjoyed using this polish, although I could have used some more multichrome.  This one is closer to a duochrome most of the time.  Which is something you should think about, especially if you're in the States, since this one will cost you $24.50 including shipping.  It is very lovely though and blindingly shiny in the sun.  I think it would be fit for an Amazonian princess or a wood nymph. :)  You can buy #503 at Picture Polish.

I also have exciting news for you.  Today Liquid Jelly reached 100 followers (and beyond)!  I want to thank everyone for following and supporting me so far.  Thanks!  I know I promised a giveaway, so I will post that as soon as I have all the prizes. :)  Coincidentally, it's has also been exactly 2 months since I began this blog!  I'm so amazed I gained so many followers so quickly.  Shall we aim for 200 when the blog turns 4 months? ;)  But honestly, I've seen so many great blogs and have gotten to know just as many great bloggers.  It really doesn't matter how many followers I have, I'm just glad to do this and get to know you all. :)

French Ahoy & Sweet Polka Dots

Hey all!

I swatched my Ozotic Pro 503 earlier today and it's so pretty. :)  I'm still editing the pictures, so that'll be up by tomorrow at the latest.  For now I have a mani I did about a month ago. ^^;

This was the first time I did a free hand french that I liked.  I think I'm getting better!  As you can see the polka dots are all over the place.  I think I'm getting better at placing dots now too. ;)  Yay, I'm growing...I think. :P  For this I used Sinful Colors Social Ladder, China Glaze Ahoy, and Milani nail art polish in white.

I'm keeping this post short and simple, like this mani. :)

Pink Wednesday: Pink Icing and Cupcakes!

Yay it's Wednesday, and on Wednesdays we wear pink!  I've been looking forward to this one because I missed the last one due to finals. :)  So without further ado, I present you... cupcake nails! :)

I'm so glad I raced out to take pics of this mani yesterday before the sun set, because there's no sun out today!  But that also means my cuticles were a bit dry, and there was still some residue from the blue BYS color change polish.  Eek!

For the cupcakes I used 2 coats of Warm Cocoa by Love & Beauty.  The pink icing is 3 coats of Revlon Sheer Cotton, which was one of the polishes I won from Steph's giveaway.  I'll review that later on in this post.  For the sprinkles, I used a coat of Milani Gems.  I finished off by using China Glaze Ahoy for the cherry and Milani White nail art polish for the stripes.  Ah I was so careful not to smear the white stripes while putting on Seche Vite top coat, but alas Ahoy wasn't dry yet and it smeared onto the icing.  I can't really tell in person though, and the cupcakes are super cute. :)

For the other nails I used 5 coats of Revlon Sheer Cotton, .  Sheer Cotton is sheer but not streaky in my opinion.  Which is good!  I think 3 coats is fine, but 4 would be ideal for full coverage if you have long nails.  Initially, I was going to do brown polka dots over Sheer Cotton on the other nails.  But since I didn't have time, I used 1 coat of Milani Gems instead.  Then I applied another coat of Sheer Cotton over it (this coat will be the fourth, so do only 3 in the beginning).  Does it remind you of anything?  Well it's not supposed to be anything like Deborah Lippman Glitter in the Air, but it was definitely inspired by that polish.  I also wanted to add a little bit of sparkle on top, so I added a coat of Wet n Wild Party of Five Glitters.  Next time, I think I'll use Party of Five instead of Gems, since I want the glitter to be more sparse and spread apart.

What do you think?  Would you do this mani?  I'm wearing it right now, and it's so cute!  :3

BYS Jaded Jet

Jaded Jet is dark green, almost black in some lightings, with emerald shimmer and tiny silver glitter.  I saw swatches of this online somewhere and thought it looked gorgeous.  It was a little different in person, but it's still pretty.  Since it's so dark though, I think it's better suited for fall and winter.  I don't know why but this strikes me as being more of a fall color.  I think it'd go well with a brown leather jacket. :)

This is 3 coats, but 2 coats would've been fine, and I didn't have any problems with drying time or application.  Sorry about the weird shines going on in these pics.  Hopefully I'll get some better shots next time I wear this.

I knew I could do short posts! :)

BYS Color Change Part 2: The Brights

I'm currently wearing Royal Blue!  I was actually going to take it off after snapping some pics to swatch my other polishes, but I liked it so much I'm leaving it on. :P  Royal blue cerulean blue.  This one shows the least amount of difference between warm and cold out of the four I have.  You can pretty much tell by the sticker.  It is more noticeable in person, than in the pictures.  I'm wearing 4 coats here for maximum coverage.

Cold
Warm (almost)
Sorry about the little mishap on the ring finger.  My Seche Vite has been giving me some grief lately with bubbles.  It's also a bit thick.  Does anyone know if I can just add polish thinner to it like a regular polish?  I swiped the bubbles off with the brush and added a second coat of Seche Vite.  Unfortunately it didn't get rid of the swipe mark, but it did make the color extra shiny. :)

This color was also a bit hard to capture.  It's a bit more darker and cerulean than the picture shows.  The pictures are pretty close though.  I don't think I had problems with drying time with this one.  However, adding more coats means it will take more for the color to change.  With two coats, the change is more immediate, but it'll be sheer and uneven.

cold
This is Bright Purple!  I wore this one all day yesterday and is clearly my favorite from the bunch.  This one takes a while to dry, but I love love love the colors on this one.  Especially when it's pink!  Which is saying a lot because I'm not really a pink person. :P  3 coats here.  Sorry about tip wear, I swear I covered them.  :/

Now that I don't have to travel down 7 stories to take pics outside, I'll be taking more pictures outside in direct sunlight.  Rather than at the window like I've been doing.  The trees at home were blossoming with flowers, so I took some pics with them. :)  And a pic of the color change:

purple (cold) and pink (warm)
Is it not absolutely gorgeous?  I adore this pink!  It kind of reminds me of the pictures I've seen of Cult Nails Devious Nature, which I really really really want.  But may not be able to get. *sigh*

Overall, I really enjoyed these polishes.  There wasn't one color I didn't like.  Bright Purple was my favorite, followed by Royal Blue.  I'm just partial to bright bold colors.  In terms of color change, the purple were the most obvious.  I'll definitely be wearing these a lot, especially when it gets warmer. :)

Thanks again to Ame who sent me these. :)
