BYS Color Change Part 1: The Glitters

This is my first time trying BYS, so I was super excited, especially since they change color!  I know Claire's has mood polishes as well, but for some reason I wasn't inclined to buy them when I saw them in store.  I believe BYS polishes are only sold in Australia and New Zealand.

Here are the glitters from the four BYS Color Change polishes I got in a recent swap.  I'll show you the two non glitters tomorrow. :)

cold
This is 3 coats of Glitter Purple.  I didn't notice in person, but it does still look a bit sheer in the picture.  In person I thought it covered well and evenly with the third coat.  These are a little tricky to apply, since they go on dark.  I noticed they turn more sheer when they turn into the light warm color.  This picture shows it cold and below you can see it when it's warm.

Warm
My fingers were cold, so I had to run them under warm water.  As you can see the tips were turning back to purple.  These polishes are so fun especially if you have long nails!  Look below.  It makes an easy french, which is how I like it. :)  I really loved this color combo.  The colors were so soft and pretty.

This next one is Glitter Blue.  Since the color change is between two shades of blue, the change is a little less noticeable than Glitter Purple.  But I definitely did see noticeable difference.  This one reminded me of an early morning sky.  I think it'd look superb with a cute flower print sundress.

cold
warm (light) and cold (dark tips)
somewhere in between
I don't have a warm pic of this one, but you can clearly see the difference between warm and cold in the second pic.  I also noticed this was sheerer than Glitter Purple when it turned warm.   I would recommend at least 4 coats for this one.  I don't know if it was because it was because it was sheer, but the color also seemed to dry less evenly.  I also had trouble with drying time.  Even after an hour and Seche Vite this wasn't completely dry.  I know because one of my fingers pressed into some laundry I was carrying up and it created a wrinkle!  Otherwise, I enjoyed the colors on this one as well.

All of these pictures were taken with top coat.  These dry matte, so I highly recommend a top coat.  Since they dry a bit slow, they easily dent- so a top coat is a must.

I can't wait to show you the second part, since it has my favorite from the four!  You'll have to come back tomorrow to see which one it is. :)

Until then,

Liz

Quick Post: Bottle shots

Here's a quick post.  Just wanted to share the new polishes  I've acquired, so you know what I'll be swatching in the upcoming days. :)  I'm currently editing the BYS color changing polishes I've swatched so far.  So that'll be up in a few hours!

From my first polish swap ever.  Ame from GiMiKd Girl sent me these all the way from New Zealand!  Thanks! I love them. :D  Definitely check out her site, she recently reviewed the OPI Texas collection and she has excellent reviews.  So far I've swatched four of these polishes.  And I have to say I'm loving them all so far.

These are from Steph at Imperfectly Painted!  I won them from her recent giveaway!  Thanks again Steph. :)  Also, I'm sure you're already following Steph, but if you aren't be sure to head on over there!

Multichrome!
Lastly, here's the first Ozotic polish I've purchased.  When the lovely people at Picture Polish sent out an email saying they got their hands on Ozotic Pro #503 Rainforest, I knew I couldn't pass it up.  Ozotic Pro's multichromes were one of my first lemmings, so I can't wait to swatch this one!

That's it for now, check back in a few hours for the BYS swatches. :)

P.S.  Who's super excited about $OPI's Summer collection?  I just wish they weren't more expensive than OPI polishes.  It doesn't really make sense to me.  But I can't wait to go check them out in store.  So far I'm most excited about Once A Cheetah, Always A Cheetah, Caught With My Khakis Down, and the two with holographic glitter.  There's also a new color out called Make The First Mauve.

Galaxy Nails: An Explosive Combination :)

Hello~!

I'm finally back at home after a grueling finals week.  After some vigorous packing, moving all my things out, a 3 hour drive back home, and a good night's sleep- I'm up for some major posting.  I also have so many polishes to show you!  I had a lot of polish packages sent home, just in case they didn't come to my dorm before I moved out.  I have a giveaway I won, a swap package, and a Ozotics I purchased waiting to be swatched.  That's 18 polishes in all, not including the ones I purchased in store, and I still have the 10 polishes I recently won from another giveaway on its way to me.  It's going to be a great month! :)

And here's finally the long awaited galaxy nails post.  Here's the un-cropped pic from the teaser.

If you guessed Nfu Oh, you were right!  Here's what I did, I applied two coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black as my base.  Then I applied 2 thin coats of Sinful Colors Hottie.  Hottie is a glitter polish with a clear blue base.  Actually when I purchased it, my bf said it's like your Nfu Oh, at which I vehemently shook my head and said, "No way! Nfu Oh is a flakie! This is glitter."  He probably thought I was crazy, but that gave me the idea of pairing them together.  First here's a pic with just Hottie over black.

I think Hottie has been compared a lot to OPI Last Friday Night, but I'm not sure if they are dupes.  This had a lot of blue/green and orange/gold glitter.  There's a lot of glitter, so actually one thick coat should be enough.  I just used a thin second coat to get some of the edges I missed.  You should make sure the black has been covered sufficiently.  Next, I added a coat of Nfu Oh #53.  The dark blue glitter in the polish really added depth and a pretty blue flash.  The flakies also added red and pink into the mass of colors.  Finally, I finished off with two coats of Seche Vite for extra shiny smoothness.  One coat is fine- it won't be bumpy, but the second coat gives it a glassy finish.

And since I talked a lot, I will now picture spam you.  I honestly couldn't pick pics, so  I apologize if you feel they're all the same. -_-

Indoor pic!  Look at all that color!

What do you think?  I thought it was absolutely gorgeous. :)

Teaser: Galaxy Nails/ Party in the Universe amazing-ness :)

This a teaser, because I can't wait to share this mani with you!  So this is for you to look at until I get the post up.

Any guesses on which polishes I used? ;)  I tried to crop out the bottle, but I'm sure you can guess one of them. :P

P.S.
What should I call this mani?  I can't think of anything that doesn't sound lame -_-  I'll use the one I like the most as the title of the next one if you leave suggestions in the comment. ^^

Sephora by OPI: If You've Got It, Haunt It

Hi all :)

This is the second polish I promised to review.  $OPI If You've Got It, Haunt It is from the limited edition 2010 Halloween collection.  It has a sheer charcoal base packed with silver micro glitter.  It also has fine black and multi-colored glitter.  The consistency of the polish is a bit gloopy because it has to hold onto all the glitter.  I used to shy away from this polish because it wouldn't come off!  But I tried out the foil-method and it just slipped off.  So now I don't mind using it. :)  The finish is rough, so if you want it to be smooth you'll have to use tons of top coat.  I personally don't mind.  I used two coats, but it was a tad bit sheer.  I would recommend two thick coats or three thin ones.

Sorry, this is the only pic I had of it alone.  So yes I re-used it from the last post.

I wanted to freshen it up the next day, so I decided to experiment with Zoya Faye.

Mostly the gold shimmer in Faye stood out, but there was still that brownish purple tint left.  I think it provided a nice contrast that is a bit more complex than what a normal gold would have given it.

This pic makes me think this would have looked amazing matte!
Indoor pic
At certain angles you can see the purple more.  It did have a bit of a reddish hue, although not as much as this picture implies.

Overall, I thought this was a nice combo.  What do you think?

Stylish Blogger Award

If you haven't seen my tweet, I just figured out how to see people's tweets directed at me.  So if I haven't been responding...it's because I'm stupid. -_-  I never really got into the whole twitter thing, but wanted to keep up with other nail bloggers real time so that's why I made one recently. -_-  I promise to respond from now on.

So...I was reading through all my @mentions and noticed that I was given the Stylish Blogger Award!  So I'd like to thank Cindy from Nail'd & Polish'd for giving me this award. :)  Don't forget to check out her site.  I enjoy reading her reviews and looking through her swatches, and I'm sure you will too!  Since I did my 10 facts a few days ago, I don't think you want to know that much more about me.  You might find me too weird. :P  So I'll keep this one short and simple.

Here are the rules to the award:

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award

7 facts about me:
  1. My favorite color is blue.  It changes sometimes, but I always revert back to blue.  This is also my favorite polish color to wear. :)
  2. I like to skip the last step when going down the stairs.
  3. I hate talking on the phone because my voice sounds really nasally.
  4. I love post-it notes!  Especially ones in pretty colors.
  5. I'm deathly afraid of bugs.
  6. My favorite flowers are peach roses.
  7. I'm very sensitive to any violence, blood, and gore on tv or in films...which basically means it's hard for me to watch anything. -_-

I tagged a lot of people last post and I don't have too many people to tag.  So I'd like to tag the two people who tagged me for the Creativ Blogger Award. :)

Ruxi from Une Ruxi à Paris  and Cristina from Opinionated Little Finger

OPI Teenage Dream & Black Shatter

Happy Mother's Day!  I think all mothers should just relax today and get treated to a mani and pedi.  Although they certainly deserve more than that. :)

And finally here's the post I promised 3 days ago!  But to be fair, I've been taking pics of this baby for 3 days.  I finally got a lot of sunshine yesterday, so I was able to get some nice shots.  However, the holo glitter refused to sparkle in my pics!  It was clearly sparkling on my nails,  but when I'd take the pic it wouldn't show up. :(  So you'll just have to trust me on this one.  It sparkles like crazy.

Teenage Dream, matte shatter, glossy shatter
This one's an indoor pic showing 3 coats of Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry collection.  As you saw in my previous pic, Teenage Dream is a bit sheer, but it builds up nicely in 3 coats.  This polish has a clear pink base with pink micro glitter and medium holo glitter.  Overall, it's a sparkly light pink polish.  I think one coat of TD would look very sweet and girly over a classic french.  The ring and pinkie has black shatter over it.  The shatter dries matte, so I put top coat only on the pinkie to show you the different finishes.  And here are my lovely sun pics:

Sparkly!  Be sure to click on these for super close-ups!

A semi blurry pic to show some of the sparkle.

There was some nice holo effect going on in the bottle, so here's a bottle pic as well. :)

I hope you enjoyed this post!  It was tough picking pictures.  I'm still wearing this, which is the longest I've worn the same mani in a long while.  So yes, I really love this. :)

Well, enjoy the rest of this beautiful Sunday!
