Butter London All Hail The Queen

All Hail The Queen (aka All Hail McQueen), 3 coats: medium beige brown with holographic and red shimmer.  AHTQ is opaque in 2 coats, but I did 3 for pics.  It has exceptional formula and glides on flawlessly.  The holographic particles are very finely milled and only come alive in the sun.  They sparkle like multicolored shimmer rather than creating any prisms.

You can also see this gorgeous red shimmer at certain angles.  It was really hard to capture, but you can see it best on my ring finger (where the light hits it).  I would say the above pic is the most accurate.  It's a bit darker in real life.

Do you own All Hail The Queen?  What are your thoughts on it?

  1. I have this and I love it. It's one of my favorite polishes. I have never seen the red shimmer! I just wore it but now I've got to do it again to find it for myself. Your swatches are gorgeous. :)

  5. I was in a buy, buy mood when this shade came out under it's first name (All Hail McQueen that was changed ASAP when Alexander McQueen passed away which I don't think they should have done - and today, with Kate's help the McQueen name is so well known)...but when I got mine I could not get what the fuss was over this shade. It looked icky on me and my bottle had a glue like formula that was more than difficult to work with - something I keep finding with many of my Butter Londons - Disco Biscuits is next to impossible to use. In fact this brand has disappointed me to much I don't even look to it anymore. I have some metallic/shimmers from this brand that are so thin and they chip so easy, it's not fun at all esp for the price per bottle. The creams I have, some are really great however - and yet the cream shades I own are not unique at all and I like ChG and some OPI cream formulas far better. Maybe I am just too pale for this McQueen/Queen to look good - yet I have other nudes I like to wear and think look good on my skin - also have a couple nude holos that I like to wear too - just not this one.

  8. Oh, the formula for yours does not sound good. I had no problems with mine, so maybe you got a bad bottle. But I can understand your frustration with the brand. It seems like some brands just don't agree with certain people. For me, that's Essie. I've never tried BL's creams, mostly because like you said, I can't justify spending $14 on a color I can get through OPI or CG. With higher end polishes, I usually go for the more unique shimmers or glitters. ^^
