Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolor Holiday Glitters and Shimmers

Hi guys!  Hope you're all enjoying the weekend.  Today I have for you the new Kardashian Kolors Holiday 2012 collection!

All is Glam, All is Bright, 3coats: opaque glitter jam packed with fine silver, red, and pale blue glitter.  As expected, this color is super glittery.  It tends to look like a pale pink with red and blue sparkles at arms length.  It took me 3 coats to get it opaque and the formula was easy to work with.

Deck the Dolls, 3 coats: a bright blue shimmer polish with subtle teal undertones.  I'm not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me, but I think there is a bit of teal in the base.  Maybe?  I found the formula a bit sheer and it needed the 3rd coat to become opaque.  Otherwise, it's a nice color, but I usually don't reach for these types of blues.

Kardashing Through the Snow, 1 coat over Deck The Dolls: a glitter polish made up of small red, silver, and blue glitter.  This glitter is better suited for layering.  I found the formula to be on the thin side, which would explain why it's hard to get it opaque.  On the plus side, it's not gritty at all, especially with top coat.

Keeping Up With Santa, 2 coats: a staple red shimmer.  The formula was great on this one: great consistency and pigmentation.  If you don't own a red shimmer polish, this one would be perfect for the holidays.

A Gold Winter's Night, 1 coat over Keeping Up With Santa: this polish has very fine copper glitter, gold bar glitters, and green to blue changing bars glitters.  The formula is thin on this one as well, but only makes it easier to apply the polish.  The bar glitters are also short enough that they don't look hairy. :P

Here We Kome A-Karoling, 2 coats: vampy purple with fuchsia shimmer.  I think there might be some grey in this polish, because it feels a little smoky.  (Or I might just be seeing things with this collection.)  This is probably my favorite from this collection.  It's dark, almost black, but the shimmer keeps it from entering the "dark side".  The shimmer is pretty subtle, making its appearance mostly in bright lighting.

As much as I like this color, it's also quite peculiar.  Formula-wise it's great, but I found wear and removal disappointing.  I noticed this color chips on me after only a few hours.  This is really puzzling, because most polishes don't chip on me even after a week.  I did notice it wore better with base coat.  The first time I wore it only with Seche Vite top coat, no base coat.  The second time I used Seche and base coat; there were no problems then.

Removal was pretty tough as well.  The polish kind of clumps up and resists acetone.  I tested out Julep's One-Step Polish Remover Pad on this, and it didn't remove anything.  At first I thought the Julep remover was defective, but I found this polish hard to remove with acetone as well.  Not as hard as glitter, but harder than any shimmer polish I've removed before.  It's a pity, because I really like this color.

Also... Here We Kome A-Karoling?  That's hard to say even in my head.  I think this name is a little too "K" happy. -.-

Verdict: This collection seems to offer a nice variety of staple shimmers for the coming winter.  I like that there's an opaque glitter as well as layering glitters.  My favorite is Here We Kome A-Karoling, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to love me back.

Availability:  Limited edition Kardashian Kolor Holiday shades are currently available for $7.99 each in the U.S. at select Target, KMart, ULTA, CVS, Meijer, Sears, Kroger, H-E-B, Duane Reade, Fred Meyer, Giant Eagle, Harmon, and Winn-Dixie locations.  In Canada, these lacquers will be retailed for $10.99 each in Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaw, and Jean Coutu.

Have you picked up any of the polishes from this collection?  If you've tried the purple, please let me know if you've had the same experiences I did!
