Here are a few of my most recent purchases related to beauty and fashion, as well as some products I love and am trying out. I listed each product shown below and their retail prices, which are not necessarily what I paid. If I paid something other than the retail price, I mentioned it where I talked about each item individually.
- Forever 21 Distressed Suedette Jacket $29.80
- Julep Age Defying Hand Brightener $32.00
- Julep Essential Cuticle Oil $18.00
- Forever 21 Jewel Front Sweater Tunic $18.99
- Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Hyperliner $15.00
- Wet 'n' Wild 8-Pan Palette $4.99
- Revlon Lip Butter $6-8
- Nail polishes $2.80-10
You can see the jacket better in this shot. Even though it's suedette, it has a leather look to it, doesn't it? I bought mine for 50% off in stores, so I paid $21.40. I think that's a steal! I'm 5'3" and the small fits me perfectly, especially in terms of body and sleeve length. It looks expensive, and is reminiscent of the Burberry coats from Fall 2012. I also bought the Jewel Front Sweater Tunic. The jewels are all sewed on, but I'll probably throw it in a mesh sack before putting it in the washer. When I pull it down, it comes just below my butt.
I got these two products in separate Julep Maven boxes. The Age Defying Hand Brightener is in sample size. I'm not sure if the cuticle oil is sample sized. I throw both of these in my purse and use them on the run. I can't tell you if the lotion actually does what it's supposed to since my hands a relatively pale and haven't aged yet. I just keep it in my purse because it's small and allows me to moisturize my hands while I'm out. The lotion itself is light and feels watery, so it absorbs quickly and isn't oily. It does have a fragrance to it, but I kind of like it.
The cuticle oil has a roller ball applicator, which is a definite plus! The main reason I like the cuticle oil is because I can put it in my purse. I'm not sure if I'd buy these for full price, but I'd love to get the cuticle oil again in my Maven box. If you'd like to try out Julep Maven, you can sign up for a $0.01 intro box here. Used code: COLOR2012. Just apply the code in check out and make sure to use Maven shipping, which is free. The link is an affiliate link.
Just a quick note, Julep Maven is something I'm kind of meh about. I don't love them, but I don't particularly hate them either. I know a lot of bloggers don't like Julep, which I didn't know why until recently. I don't support their past actions, which is why I don't actively support them anymore. But because they've been pretty good to me personally, I still get my Maven boxes. However, if they don't throw out anything that wows me soon, I will probably stop my subscription. I do think they're worth a try for just a penny.
Tarina Tarantino eye liners! I really love these and think they're worth the price. Christine from Temptalia sold me on these when she said they passed the shower test. I was planning on getting these, when the bf asked me what I wanted for X-mas, so I hinted at these. Haha. ;) The olive green (Sparkling Ammunition) gets a lot of wear from me. The teal (Spark of Envy) I mostly use on the lower line for a pop of color.
Comfort Zone (left) and Blue Had Me At Hello (right). While I like going crazy with my nails, I mostly stick to neutrals for my make up. There's been a lot of talk about Comfort Zone, and I can see why. It's the palette I reach for the most these days. I am also trying to experiment a bit more with my make up, which is why I bought the blue palette. I don't really use these to color my lids, but more to highlight or add color. Yeah, I'm still staying in my comfort zone. :P
Revlon Lip Butters in Cupcake (left) and Sweet Tart (right). If you follow beauty gurus, you've definitely heard about these enough to last you a lifetime. These are pretty moisturizing and pigmented. I still layer lip balm under mine though, but it doesn't dry out my lips when worn alone. I usually wear light pinks, so Sweet Tart was another 'let's add color to my make up' purchase. I really like both of these and use them equally.
Left to right: Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Glass Slipper (gift, but I think around $5); Sephora by OPI Blasted Opalescent Gold (says Gold Glitter on website) $9.50; Cult Nails Toxic Seaweed $10; Love and Beauty Olive Gold $2.80.
Glass Slipper was gift from the bf on Vday. One of my readers suggested pairing it with SinfulColors Cinderella (which is genius by the way, because Cinderella is nothing without her glass slipper) and they really work well together! I would suggest that pairing too!
Ah...yes...I actually bought Sephora by OPI's overpriced blasted polish (another version of shatter). This one's actually really gorgeous. It's on the sheer side, but can change from green to gold and pink. It doesn't scream shatter and is really more like a top coat. :)
Toxic Seaweed! This one's a flakie glitter polish. I'll post swatches of all of these...once I swatch them. ^^
The last polish, Love and Beauty Olive Green is what I'm currently wearing. I have sunlight pics of this, so I'll post them once I'm done editing. It's even more gorgeous in sunlight! It's actually pretty close to Butter London Wallis! I think Wallis is a bit more green and brighter, but it's close enough that I don't feel the need to shell out $18 for Wallis. $2.80 for the Love & Beauty version sounds like a deal though. It also compliments my jacket! :)

Lovely purchases!! :D Aw, I really hope that you feel better soon! *hugs!*
ReplyDeletethose two lip butters are awesome, you'll love em :) xx
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious to try the Revlon lip butters!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! <3
ReplyDeleteI do love them! I'm thinking of picking up two more shades in Lollipop and maybe Peach Parfait. :P
ReplyDeleteThey're pretty nice! I think the colors are cute and diverse, and it doesn't dry out your lips. On the downside, they're not as long wearing, and I would still pair them with lip balm underneath. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I am really interested in trying the Revlon Lip Butters. Most all lipsticks make my lips peal - but I am hoping maybe these won't. The It Cosmetics don't make my lips peal and the new Tarte Lipsurgance sticks (matt, shimmer, glimmer finishes) really work well on me but they are $24 each! - OUCH! Now reading your comment that the Revlons are not very long lasting means I will only pick up one and I will buy it at Rite Aide so I can take it back after using it if it's a bomb for me. I really demand a long lasting lip product or why bother? I am not one to re-apply constantly.
ReplyDeleteSince these don't dry out your lips, maybe it'll help keep your lips from peeling. I think the reason they're not as long lasting is because they're technically not lipstick, but lip butters. However. some are as opaque as a lipstick. I personally hate when my lips dry out, so I don't mind having to reapply. I mostly only reapply after eating or drinking. If I don't eat or drink, it lasts a good 3-4 hours on me. I also really love how these feel on my lips. I think a few have shimmer in them (like Peach Parfait and Cotton Candy) and can feel a bit gritty, so I'd watch out for those if that sounds like an issue. If you need something that lasts longer than 3-4 hours, than the Lip Butters might not be the best for you, but there's definitely no harm in giving them a try! :)
