The Stash: Essie

I admittedly don't own a lot of Essies.  I used to be quite enthusiastic about them, but their collections haven't been catching my eye as much lately.  I did really want Camera from their Summer 2012 Poppy-Razzi collection, but it was sold out everywhere. :/  Otherwise, I tend to gravitate toward other brands because I don't like Essie's small round brushes.  I think their bottles are really cute though, and I love how the drugstore ones have color coded labels at the top.

My first Essie was Coat Azure from the Spring 2011 French Affair collection.  But my oldest bottle is probably the darkest one called Night Cap.  Not sure when that one came out, but it's a watery dark blue/teal tint.  It's discontinued, but I was able to get it because I won it from Body & Soul. :)  Since I have so little Essies, I can definitely pick a favorite: School of Hard Rocks.  (PS. It looks amazing with Essie Shine of Times - my favorite combo.)

I think my group of Essies need some more friends...like Leading Lady from the new winter collection. :P

(*edit: I replaced the original picture with a better one. ^^)

What are your favorite Essies?  And which shade was your first?

  1. Essie Pretty Edgy was one of my gateway polishes. That and Demure Vixen. I actually like the Essie brush and I like that they've been putting out some more opaque colors.

  3. I love essies! Those ones sold in Finland have bigger brush, and I like it better. I'm ready to buy them from stores here, even it's three times more expensive than ordering online :D

I have about 20 essies, and my first shades was Lilacism and Mint Candy Apple, bought them at same time :)

What is the shade called in the middle row far on the right, and one on the left in top row??

I love Essie but they're so hard to get here for a reasonable price. I don't have many but Shine of Times is definitely a favourite. I just got Butler Please, it's a gorgeous blue :)

  6. Jealous you guys have a bigger brush! I feel like that would help me a lot with some of their trickier formulas. The on in the middle row right is Nice is Nice. It's similar to Lilacism but with more pink in it. And top row left is Demure Vixen. :)

  8. Butler Please does look nice! It kind of reminds me of Sally Hansen Pacific Blue.

  9. I admit a weakness for Essie bottles..and they fit into my collection boxes so well. I have a lot of Essies mostly because they are easier for me to obtain now they went drugstore than other brands...when Essie hits on a formula it can be really good. I don't buy as many now as I used to because like you said, their shades don't always grab my heart. I did not pick up any from fall and none from the summer neon collection. I did get Mojito Madness and Teeny Bikini - I need to pass TB on as it gave me lob hands and feet big time!

Lovely collection! For me, I a huge fan of the color pink, and I think Essie has some beautiful pink colors. :-)

  13. That is so true about the bottles. They're so compact. :)

  14. They do! Usually when I think of Essie, I think of their more classic colors- pinks, nudes, neutrals...even though I don't have any. Might be because my roommate was an Essie fan and those were the colors she had. ^^

  15. I love the way they all look together! My first Essie was Jackie Oh My! and I bought it at Marshall's or TJ Maxx. Mint Candy Apple was also one of my firsts. If I didn't find Essie on sale at a random store in NYC for $3.99 I wouldn't have nearly as many :)
