Friday Food and Nails (FFAN) #10

TGIF!  I'm so excited to bring back FFAN for this year.  This is the first post in over a year since its discontinuation in 2011.  I've always wanted to bring back some kind of sharing corner, especially when I see so many great blogs I want to share on a daily basis.  Glad you guys were still on board with the idea of FFAN. ^^  Well, enough jibber-jabber.  On to the lovely manis. :)

"I just tried Layla Magnetic Effect polish for the for time, and I love it. I thought I'd pair it with my favorite snack, Cheez-Its! The smokey glitter of Silver Galaxy and the orange of the bag look great together."

"As I was about to eat a banana during a quick break between classes, I realized how great the yellow looked with my current nails, and I just had to take a picture for FFAN!  It added a really nice pop of color to an already colorful manicure I did, using Essie Play Date, China Glaze Kinetic Candy, and Zoya Aurora."

FFAN Is Coming Back!

FFAN (short for Friday Food and Nails) was a corner I did back in 2011 to introduce other blogs and share reader manis.  I had to discontinue it later in the year due to school work, but I'm bringing it back for 2013!  I got to know a lot of great bloggers through this, so I hope you'll all participate. :)

It's only 36 minutes past 12am here, so hey.  I say it's Friday.  Anyway, sorry about the lack of updates and late posts. T_T  I am so busy right now, that I'm glad it's finally the weekend.  Even though it will be a busy weekend.  Hopefully I'll get some posts up.  Also unfortunately, I will be discontinuing the FFAN series until summer '12 due to the lack of entries and my busy schedule. Wow these past few weeks have been busy.  Another exam and paper down, but still so much to do.  T_T Unfortunately, this meant that I haven't been able to advertise FFAN as much these days.  Eek!  So there's only one entry, but it sure is a great one!  Hope you enjoy this one and remember to visit Theodora's blog! :)

"Silk Pure Almond Milk (vanilla flavored) is very delicious. The polish I'm wearing is Wet n Wild Megalast 2% Milk. Ironically, the almond milk is very similar in color to the polish. I usually don't like sheer polish like this but this stands out to me. I'd definitely purchase both of these items again."

"Watermelon toes:  This is freehand nail art.  The colors I used are Essie Pretty Edgy, Sally Hansen Racey Rouge, Art Deco black (with super small brush) and OPI Start to Finish top/base coat.  My nails are posed with a watermelon.  Watermelon is so fresh and tasty for summer, so I thought that would be a good concept for nail art."

"These are homegrown green beans and a mani I did with Essence I'm a Berliner, Konad special polishes in white and different shades of green, and stamping plates BM224 and m20. I also added some green micro pearls and NfuOh Ultra Shine topcoat. I'm not completely sure if these count as food, because you don't eat the beans as they are, but boil them and toss in some butter. I'd rather hold them in my hand for the pic raw, than dripping with hot butter, though :)"

"These are my watermelon nails that I did. I decided to do something different by making the rind and the actual watermelon on different nails. I used Sinful Colors Fusion Neon for the pink watermelon and Ruby Kisses Lime Green With Envy for the base of the watermelon rind. I used a Santee Black Nail Art Striper for the dots and a Max 2012 by Cherimoya Crackle in Eternity, a dark green, for the other part of the watermelon rind. I got a lot of compliments on this look because it is very unique compared to other watermelon looks. I think the usage of the crackle really makes it shine."

"Zoya Maya joined me for breakfast! She smelled the homemade Nun cakes baking in the oven & decided to stop by. According to Zoya.com, Maya is a "semi-opaque bright pink coral with tangerine undertones. A bright tropical coral for a translucent jelly-like finish on your manicure or pedicure." Nun cakes are actually supposed to puff up and split open on the top, but I'm still getting used to my new oven so it looks like a fail, but they tasted delicious!"

Orly's are expensive here, so it's good to find a good dupe! I decided to show it with this mini bottle of tabasco sauce because it's little and cute, but also fiery - a bit like me!"

Friday Food and Nails (FFAN) Entry Guidelines *discontinued*

FFAN is a weekly post featured on Fridays.  During the week, readers can send in pictures of their nails posed with their favorite foods, drinks, or snacks.  If you are a blogger, this is a great opportunity for sharing your blog.   Readers without blogs are also welcome to participate. :)  Here are just a few guidelines.

1. Please send in a clear picture featuring your nails and a food/drink item you would like to share.  It doesn't have to be nail art, it can just be a color you rocked this week.
2. Write a short description to go with the picture about both the food and nails.  For example: what the food is, where it's from, and what color(s) you're wearing on your nails.  If it's nail art, you don't have to list all the colors.
3. If you are a blogger also send in your blog link.  If the nails are specific to a post you did during the week, leave the link to the post instead.  If you do not include your blog link, the submission will not be linked to your blog.  The picture must be exclusive to FFAN, so don't post your food pic on your blog until it has been published in this post.  Also, don't forget to watermark them (your blog name or blog url on the picture).
4. Title your entries "FFAN-_(insert name or blog name)_"  Send all entries to liquidjelly76 (at) gmail.com by Thursday 9pm US central time.  Entries after 9 will be featured the next week.  Please only send in one per week, but you can participate every week. :)

 
All entries will be published unless the picture is:

• inappropriate to the post
• too dark or blurry to distinguish what color you are wearing or what the food is.  Both must be clearly visible.
