[Nail Art] DRK Nails Designer 2 Stamping Plate

Hey guys! I have two different nail art designs for you today. For both looks, I used the Designer 2 plate from DRK Nails. I first saw this plate on Lacquer Lockdown, where Tamira did this gorgeous look with it. I was going to buy Designer 1 too, but ended up only getting D2. So far I love it! 

My first attempt at advanced stamping. ^^ I accidentally smooshed my pinky at the last minute while transferring it to my nail. T__T One day I will master this!

What I Used

Nicole by OPI Sweet Surrender (base)

Zoya Marney (deep plum; superb for stamping)

Zoya Chanelle (warm brown, colored portion)

Pretty Jelly Shy Girl (pink holo, colored circle)

Using a different image from the same stamping plate, I created this second look. The stamping's more subtle since the pink is so bright. This is the same pink I used in my Refreshing Cherry Mani. I've been wearing it a lot this summer.

I haven't tried all the images from this plate yet, but the etchings are deep and stamp well - even for a noob like me. I had no problems with the plate, and it arrived very quickly. I got it 4 days after I placed my order. The price is not too bad either. $6.50 for the plate and $2.53 for shipping. If you're interested, I would definitely recommend this plate. :)

Orly Androgynie

Orly Androgynie, 1 coat layered over a black base.  Androgynie is a black jelly with glitters that shift cyan-blue and blue-green-orange.  There are also fine holographic glitter and gold flecks of shimmer.

I can't believe I was going to pass on this polish.  A lot of bloggers have mentioned that Androgynie isn't as promising on the nail as the bottle suggests.  While this is true, it is possible to make this polish work with a few simple steps.  Read on to see more!

Orly Au Champagne

3 coats, satin matte.  I think Polishaholic said this too, but this color reminds me of the Misa Wishes Spring 2011 collection.  It's dries semi matte, so I'm wearing top coat in all of these to make it shiny.  This is a really nice pearly white and a palette cleanser for me.  Click 'read more' to see more pics!

Orly Space Cadet: A Gorgeous Multichrome

Unfortunately there's no Monday theme post from me today.  I didn't do it yesterday so I was planning on doing it this the morning and posting it then, but there was a bit of a storm during the early hours.  As a result, I was left without electricity all day until it finally came back on after 5pm.  So I've decided to just post a swatch I did yesterday instead.

Mermaid Tail Nail Art & How To

I'm starting to feel a lot better, and I'm itching to start swatching and creating cool nail art for you guys.  Unfortunately, that'll have to wait a little longer, because yesterday I wanted to test out my silver shatter (I haven't been able to use it yet! >.<) on my sister's nail and the smell sent me reeling.  So still too early for that.  But here's something I did before I got sick. :)

Mermaid scales!  But first, let me do a quick review of Orly Shine.  Shine is your basic white-silver foil.  It's a little sheer, so I'm wearing 3-4 coats here.  And I actually got to do a wear test with this one for a whole week.  After about a week, I only had tip wear, and this was without top coat.  But I also haven't done much this week, so that's something to consider.

All the silver made me think of scales, so I decided to do a mermaid tail on the accent finger.  I actually did this like I did my mosaic nails, only with a scale print this time.  But after I was done, I realized there's really no point in going through all that trouble.  Here's a simpler way!
