[Review+Swatch] Sinful Colors Sage Rose

Hi guys! Quick post today featuring this pretty shade by Sinful Colors. I got this in my last Influenster box and was excited to try it out. It's a little darker and warmer than the swatch in real life. I think my light box really brought out the metallic silver sheen. This is two easy coats.

I haven't bought a new SC in quite a while. I used to haul them like crazy during the $1 Walgreens sales. What are your favorite colors from them? :)

Faded Florals ♥

Hey all!  Yesterday, I decided to give The Beauty Department's faded florals mani a whirl.  I used their tutorial to make the faded florals, but added my own touch to it by adding leaves.  I also used similar colors instead of all different ones. 

The colors I used for my version shown above are:
Victoria's Secret Cocktail (base color for non white nails)
OPI Don't Touch My Tutu! (white base color)
Sephora by OPI Caliente Coral (florals)
SinfulColors Island Coral (florals)
Julep Niecy (florals)
China Glaze Starboard (leaves)
OPI Pirouette My Whistle (glitter)

Instead of using a creme white base, I chose a sheer white to get a softer look.  On the none floral nails, I also added diluted white and pink, then topped it with OPI PMW.  I actually like the above version better in my pictures, but on me I didn't.  So I took off the non floral nails and revised them to get the look below:

In this version, I used OPI DTMT! topped with China Glaze White Cap for my non floral nails.  I also added a coat of OPI PMW on the floral nails.  By the way, White Cap looks nice layered over any of the OPI NYC Ballet colors.  I originally got the idea to do this after seeing a bottle of Revlon Calla Lily.  I liked how it looked, but resolved not to get it.  From looking at it, I knew I could achieve the bottle color with two polishes I already owned. :)

This was my first attempt at Rebecca Likes Nails's watercolor technique.  It could be better, but I think it turned out alright.  I still want to attempt this faded floral look again with cooler colors and smaller florals.  Hopefully I'll get the hang of diluting the colors out more like Rebecca.  I haven't done an all over watercolor look like hers either!  It's definitely on my to-do list!

NOTD: Blueberry Cheetah & Sparkles!

Hey there!  Here's what I'm currently wearing.  I've been wanting to do a cheetah mani for the past few days and finally got around to doing one.  They're so easy to do and look great! :) 

For this look I used:

Sinful Colors Cinderella (base)

Rescue Beauty Lounge Aqua Lily (spots)

Milani Black nail art polish (black outlines)

Julep Oscar (gold glitter accent)

I really love how the pink flecks in Cinderella sparkle from behind the spots.  There's pink shimmer in Aqua Lily, but it doesn't come through since it's not covering the whole nail.  I still haven't swatched Aqua Lily yet.  I really wanted to wear it, but I had a feeling I would be receiving polishes to review soon.  And I did!  I got two packages in fact.  One from Sally Hansen and one from Bari Cosmetics (Pure Ice).  Anyway, back to the mani!

I wasn't sure if the gold accent would tie in very well, but I really like it!  It's so sparkly, I love it!  I used 4 coats of Oscar to get it opaque, but I could've gotten away with 3.  If you use a base color, I'm sure 2 coats would be sufficient as well.  I love how I can get Oscar opaque.  Oscar has a clear base with fine gold shimmer, so I actually thought it wouldn't get opaque.  But it did!  I was definitely impressed. :)  I also think it's aptly named, because it reminds me of all the glamour of the Oscars.  The formula for Oscar was a bit gloopy, which is to be expected since it's a glitter polish.  The glitters lie close to the nail, and after two coats of Seche Vite, I found it nice and smooth.  The only downside is that this polish goes fast!  I only used it on two nails, and I saw a significant dip in the bottle.  Actually, this is true of pretty much all my Julep polishes.  The bottles are so narrow and tall. :(  Oh, and did you know you can find Julep polishes at Sephora now?  Personally, I'm going to stick with my Maven boxes since I feel Julep polishes are overpriced at $14 a piece. :/

Wow, I rambled a lot in this post. -.-  What do you think of this mani?  When I look at it, it reminds me of blue raspberry taffy and cotton candy.  :P

Jeweled Bow Mani

Hey all!  It's now finals week for me, so you might not hear too much from me.  After finals, I'm graduating and moving back home!  Here's a simple mani I did using copper micro beads and silver rhinestones.  Sorry about the quality of my pics. >.<  My camera really stinks in low light, and it was cloudy when I took this.  This look was inspired by this mani from the March 2012 issue of Nail Up!

I wasn't in the mood for plaid/(tweed?) or nudes, so I simplified the look for my version and used bright colors to give the mani personality.

For this look I used Sinful Colors Grecian Sun (blue) and Love & Beauty Sage (blue-green).  I really love how the copper microbeads look against Sage!  I think I'm going to do this mani again next time when I have more time.  If you look closely you might have noticed that some of the copper color from the beads smeared onto my base color.  It wasn't as visible in real life, but that was a bit disappointing.  The color smeared off when I applied top coat.  I actually think this might have been my top coat's fault.  I dumped a little too much polish thinner into, and it's been giving me some trouble.  Last night I left it open for some time to thicken up a little.  Hopefully, that will solve the smearing problem!

Spring Florals & Pearls

I've been testing out the pearls, rhinestones, and filmos I ordered lately.  I wanted to check the quality and durability of them before I did my review.  I've given most of them a try, so the collective review will be up soon. :)  In the meantime, here's a floral mani I did with some of the white pearls.

This is the first version I did with a pink accent finger, which I didn't love.  So I ended up redoing that finger, because I didn't feel it completed the mani.

Quilted Bow Nail Art

Hey there!  Today I have a quick nail art post for you.  This is another take on the quilted nail art I did before for Valentine's day.  I actually did this one first.

If you'd like a tutorial on how to do the quilting, please refer to my post here.  For the bows, I used Milani nail art polish in white to draw a X.  Then I added lines to the sides of the Xs to make a bow.  I colored the bows in and layered Essie Pure Pearlfection over only the bows to take off the harshness of the white.  I then finished them off by adding a gold glitter (Milani Jewel Fx Gold) to the center of each bow.

Can you tell that I love using Sinful Colors Tutu (base color) for quilted nails.  I think they go so well together. :)

Vday Nail Art: SinfulColors Tutu & Quilted Hearts

Happy belated Valentine's Day!  I hope everyone had a good one.  I was going to post this mani yesterday, but unfortunately I got sick after class and had to spend the rest of it in bed.  The nice thing was when I woke up, there were Valentine's gifts on my bed. :)

Oh and thank you to everyone who left some feedback on my last post!  I guess I can't please every monitor, but I'll try to strike a happy medium.  At least I'm going easy on the saturation button now.  Hopefully this way, my pictures will be accurate on more computers. ^^

SinfulColors Bare

SinfulColors Bare, 2 coats, Heartbreaker collection.  Bare is a lovely rose nude.  Depending on the lighting it can lean more tan-pink or brown.  It has very fine white shimmer that gives the color a soft glow in the sunlight.  It doesn't scream shimmer, but just softens the color.  I love how this looks on me and can see this color working well with any skin tone.





This last one was taken in the shade, while the previous two were taken in direct sunlight.  You can see how the shimmer isn't too prevalent, giving the color a soft shine.

Sinful Colors Cinderella Update

Hey guys!

There has been so much interest in the Cinderella shade, so I thought I'd post an update.  I've been getting some comments from readers saying that they were unable to find Cinderella in the Heartbreaker display.  So I am assuming that Cinderella is not part of the Heartbreaker collection.  The reason I thought it was, was because I found mine in that display.  However, there was only one.  I did search the whole make up section to see if there was another display, but couldn't find one.  It wasn't in the main display either.  So I do not know where this polish came from. o_o

Currently the Sinful Colors website is down, and when I tried emailing them via the email on their site I got a return email saying the address was invalid. So...then I contacted one of the PRs who sent me the Sinful Colors Holiday collection, but I just got a simple response back saying that they are probably at Walgreens.  In the end, I really didn't get any information I didn't already  know. :(  So sorry, guys!  I tried my best, but I don't know how else I can get in touch with SC. :/  Do you guys know if SC's FB page is maintained by SC?  I wasn't sure if it was maintained by a fan or a PR.

As of right now, the best thing we can do is sit tight and hope we'll either get more news on this color soon or see it join the main display.

I found mine at Walgreens, but for those of you who did find Cinderella, could you please leave a comment noting which store you bought it from and maybe the general location/display you found it in.  Hopefully this will help those of you trying to hunt it down. :)

Sinful Colors Heartbreaker Collection & Cinderella Swatches

Hey guys!  Have you seen the new Sinful Colors Heartbreaker collection around?  I've been googling the collection as well as the shades I picked up, but none could be found. :(  There are repromotes in this collection, but I think the ones I picked up are new.  I'm not sure, so if you know, tell me! :)

Here are the ones I got from the Heartbreaker display.

**edit:  Cinderella is not part of the Heartbreaker collection, although mine was found in that display.  I only found one though and couldn't find any more in either the main display or in a separate display.

SinfulColors Wish Collection

Here's the SinfulColors Holiday 2011 Wish collection!  I'm not sure if all of these are new colors, since I know for sure that Last Chance and Daddy's Girl aren't new.  There are also two nail art lacquers in this collection, which I'll show you another time.

Holiday Nail Looks!

Happy Holidays everyone!  Here are two holiday looks I came up with.  I just realized I used gold in both manis.  I realize most people don't really like gold nail polish, but something about gold screams holiday to me.  The second mani can easily be adapted to match your color preferences, however.  Hope you like these! :)

Poinsettia nails!  I obviously didn't research how they look before doing this mani.  I kinda of did it off the top of my head and realized later that the leaves don't look like that. -_-  I think I was thinking of mistletoe leaves.  I used Sinful Colors Last Chance for the green nails and Dr.'s Remedy Glee Gold for the other nails.  For the poinsettia, I used China Glaze City Siren and lined it with a gold glitter nail art polish.  For the middle of the flower, I used Milani Fx in gold.  I think that's my favorite part. :P

Present nails!  For this one I used Sinful Colors Midnight Blue and Wet n Wild 24 Carats.  I originally drew the bow in black, but decided to color it in with the blue polish.  In person you couldn't tell I colored it in, but...yeah you can totally tell in these pics. -_-

Sinful Colors: Daddy's Girl

Hey all :)

If you hadn't noticed, there was a poll asking which polish you'd like to see next.  The winner was the Essence magnetic polish.  I think I'll swatch and review Steel Me and Copper Rulez! on the same day.  I'm currently looking for some strong magnets (there doesn't seem to be any at home), as well as the sun.  I haven't been able to swatch because it's been quite cloudy, rainy, and cold these past few days.  So until then, I have a swatch I've already done in preparation for days like these.

Hey all!  The ladies over at Polish-aholics Anonymous wanted to do theme manis on Mondays and post pics!  Today is our first theme Monday, and we all did polka dots.  It's still not too late to join in!  Here's what I did. :)

NOTD: Rain, Rain, Go Away

It hasn't been that sunny these past few days, so I haven't really been swatching much.  My pictures don't come out that great unless I have plenty of natural lighting. :/  Today was no exception.  It's dark and gloomy out and earlier there was a crazy downpour of rain.  In hopes of sunnier days, I did a mani that I hope would appeal to the weather gods. :P

I wanted to do an ombre mani, but didn't have enough similar blues.  So I tried my best to lighten some colors with glitter. :P  See how the sky and clouds "gradually" get lighter. :)  On my pinky I drew a nice summery sun.  On my ring finger (third from the right), I used BYS Color Change Royal Blue.  It's actually really nice because it changes lighter or darker, so depending on my temp it gives the ombre a different transition in color.  My favorite is when it's darker toward the tips, cause then it's like the sky is turning lighter...quite literally.

Here's a complete list of polishes I used for this mani: China Glaze First Mate, BYS Color Change Royal Blue, Essie Coat Azure, Sally Hansen Gray by Gray, Revlon Cloud, Revlon Sheer Cotton, Hard Candy Hick, Sinful Colors Hottie, SC Unicorn, LA Colors Wave Length, Milani Nail Art white.  If you look closely in the flash pic, you might notice a very subtle pink shimmer.  That's from Hard Candy Hick, which I'll review once it gets sunnier.

Hopefully you guys are experiencing better weather!  Max and I are so ready for some more sun.

Ozotic Pro #503 Rainforest & 100+ Followers/ 2 month blog-o-versary

Yay I'm finally done picking out pictures and editing them.  I had so many pictures that it took a while to decide which ones I wanted to use.  It was also a lot sunnier today than yesterday (when I took these)!  Such a shame.  I did snap one more today, so you can see how it looks in full sunshine. :)

Ozotic Pro 503 is a multichrome that is for the most part different shades of green, such as emerald, moss/forest green, olive, and jungle green.  If you're not sure what jungle green is try googling 'jungle green Crayola.' :)  There are also shades of red/copper which can tend to look brown with the green.  I've also seen turquoise, blue and purple at certain angles.  I recommend using a base coat with this since it's very sheer and doesn't build up.  For my swatches, I used 2 coats of Sinful Black on Black on my index and middle, and 2 coats of China Glaze First Mate on my ring and pinkie.  Basically, my theory is if it can be layered over black, it can be layered over a dark blue/navy. :)  And First Mate is such a nice color. ^^  For the Ozotic Pro, I used 2 coats.

Index & Mid: Black,  Ring & Pinkie: Blue

Today I was looking at my nails and I thought it might look nice with copper glitter, so I used a coat of Sally Hansen Snappy Sprinkes and $OPI Traffic Stopper Copper to see how it would look.  Snappy Sprinkles seems to blend in with the polish, but Traffic Stopper looks really nice!  I think it brings out the copper in 503 and keeps it from looking too brown.  What do you think?  Also which layering combo do you like the best?  Let me know in the comments! :)

In full blazing sunshine

Overall, I enjoyed using this polish, although I could have used some more multichrome.  This one is closer to a duochrome most of the time.  Which is something you should think about, especially if you're in the States, since this one will cost you $24.50 including shipping.  It is very lovely though and blindingly shiny in the sun.  I think it would be fit for an Amazonian princess or a wood nymph. :)  You can buy #503 at Picture Polish.

I also have exciting news for you.  Today Liquid Jelly reached 100 followers (and beyond)!  I want to thank everyone for following and supporting me so far.  Thanks!  I know I promised a giveaway, so I will post that as soon as I have all the prizes. :)  Coincidentally, it's has also been exactly 2 months since I began this blog!  I'm so amazed I gained so many followers so quickly.  Shall we aim for 200 when the blog turns 4 months? ;)  But honestly, I've seen so many great blogs and have gotten to know just as many great bloggers.  It really doesn't matter how many followers I have, I'm just glad to do this and get to know you all. :)
