Pretty Jelly Dark Magic: Holographic Flakie Multichrome

Hi everyone! Did you all celebrate Valentine's Day yesterday? I really wanted to do a girly pink mani for Vday, but I didn't feel like taking my current mani off - which is this pretty polish from my indie brand. It's a dark anti Vday purple...like my soul. ^^

Is it just me or are evil villains much more interesting than the heroines? I recently started (and finished) Once Upon A Time, and I really love all the villains. So while I'm waiting for season 5, I decided to create a dark purple reminiscent of the ominous rolling smoke clouds in the show.

It was cloudy when I took these pics, so I couldn't capture the scattered holo. :( It has a subtle shift from blue-purple to red-purple.

Announcement ♥ piCture pOlish Paradise by Liquid Jelly

Hi everyone!  A few weeks ago, I announced the launching of my limited edition collaboration shade with piCture pOlish: Paradise.  Today I have more great news.  Due to all the positive feedback, piCture pOlish has decided to add Paradise to their collection full time - yes, it's a permanent shade now!  I know several shops had/have sold out, including piCture pOlish's main site.  If you missed it, don't worry!  piCture pOlish will be restocking their site this Friday (aussie time).

piCture pOlish Paradise by Liquid Jelly

Hi everyone!  Today's post is really special to me because I've been keeping it a secret since last summer!  Last year, I was chosen by piCture pOlish to be part of their blogger collaboration project.  You may have already seen some of these shades.  In fact, mine was supposed to launch together with The PolishAholic, Samarium's Swatches, Pointless Cafe, and Sahrish Adeel back in January.  Unfortunately, my shade took some time to perfect, but we finally did it!

Scherer Chameleon Blue Sky

Today I have this pretty little duochrome named Blue Sky for you.  I'm not that familiar with this brand, but I've seen duochromes from this Chameleon line on several blogs before.  I think these are only available at Rite Aid, and we have none here.  But I was eventually able to get my hands on this one. :)

China Glaze Deviantly Daring

I dropped by Sally Beauty Supply a few days ago for non nail related reasons, and of course, I came out with a few polishes.  I finally found the sale rack at my Sally's!  I can't believe I never saw it. -_-  I seriously just had to turn around.  Anyway, I noticed a few China Glaze polishes I wanted in the racks for $3.29 each and came away with two.

Lately, I've been curving my impulsive polish buys.  I must admit, the crazies have transferred over to makeup instead.  But makeup costs more, so I've been doing more planned purchases than impulsive ones.  I'm also saving up for the China Glaze Hologlam collection, so I kind of do an either or thing: this or Hologlam?  Hologlam usually wins.

So here's the first polish I got!

Deviantly Daring, 2 coats: a green-teal-blue duochrome.  Even though there's three colors, the green is a bit elusive, so I wouldn't call this a multichrome.  It's also a more subtle duochrome.  Rather than seeing two colors simultaneously on the nail, I noticed that the polish as a whole shifts from teal to deep blue depending on how the light hits it.

I got this polish knowing the duochrome wouldn't be super strong, so I was actually more impressed than disappointed.  I think the color is gorgeous, and it's more duochrome than I expected it to be.  The formula was excellent as well: good consistency and two-coat pigmentation.  The only downside is brushstroke visibility, but that doesn't bother me much.  The above picture is in direct sunlight, and the rest below are in indirect sunlight.

Ozotic Scatter 915

Finish
915 is a duochrome polish with holographic shimmer flecks.  The duochrome base has some gold in it, but mainly shifts from apple green to blue and aqua.  I think the holographic flecks set this polish apart from all the other chrome polishes we've been seeing lately.  I love how glow-y looks on my nails and the holo shimmer has the tendency to catch me off guard.

Waiting for Autumn

Is anyone else anxious for fall to get here?  I've never been eager to see the end of summer, but this year I can't wait for cooler weather.  Well, until it gets here, at least I have this beautiful Models Own polish to keep me entertained.

Aqua Violet, 3 coats from the Beetle Juice collection.  It was sheer on the first coat, but built up nicely in 3 coats.  Like the name says, it has a strong aqua to violet duochrome.  But those aren't the only colors I'm seeing.  Turquoise, teal, light blue, periwinkle, purple.  I can't stop looking at this polish.  It's like a chameleon.  But enough talk.  I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Essence Colour & Go: Chic Reloaded

Believe it or not, this is actually my first Colour & Go polish!  I knew they had these at Ulta, but I never went looking for them.  It was only when I found out through Nouveau Cheap that the Essence sharpeners are dupes for Urban Decay's Grindhouse sharpener that I sauntered into the Essence aisle.

Unfortunately, there weren't any sharpeners left.  It seems like whenever I really want something, it's sold out.  (It took me months before I was able to get my hands on Nicole by Opi Kim-Pletely In Love and Revlon Whimsical.)  But I did come away with this pretty polish. :)

This is 2 coats over Zoya Ray, but it definitely did not need any underwear.  Chic Reloaded is opaque in 2-3 coats on it's own, so a base color is unnecessary.  I thought Ray would make the duochrome pop more, but it looked the same as when it was swatched on its own.

To simply describe the polish, it's a sheer black base with pink to green shifting shimmer.  The black base gives it the pop and opacity it needs.  In the sun, it looks more like a grey shimmer polish with pink and green shimmer.  But in the shade, it's a gorgeous green to pink duochrome.  You can also see some teal and purple if you look closely.  And at extreme angles you might even see some orange and gold.

I also found the brush easy to use.  It has a wide, flat brush like OPI, which I love.  I'm not a big fan of small, thin brushes.  It's the main reason why I don't really go for Essies.  These Essence bottles also have customized caps that reflect the polish inside.  How cute!  Best of all, these were only $1.99 at Ulta.

I don't know why it took me so long to try these!  I'm definitely a new fan. ^^

Nicole by OPI 2012 Fall Shades: The Chromes

This fall Nicole by OPI came out with 5 Target exclusive fall shades.  Today I'll be showing you the two chromes in this collection. :)

Iris My Case, 3 coats:  a violet chrome with subtle golden-brown duochrome.  It starts out a little sheer, but reaches opacity in 3 coats.  I wasn't really wowed by this one, especially since the duochrome is oh so very slight.  My sister, however, loved it.

This is one of those polishes where you can see the duochrome much better in the bottle.

Mer-Maid For Each Other, 2 coats: light green chrome that shifts blue or gold.  I'll tell you right off the bat that this is not another Chanel Peridot dupe.  Rather, it seems to be the answer for those who found Peridot too yellow-gold for their taste.  While Peridot is predominantly gold, Mer-Maid For Each Other (wow that's long) is better categorized as a green polish.  It shifts a little gold as well, but the bigger shift is towards a gorgeous blue.

Verdict:  While I'm lukewarm about Iris My Case, I love Mer-Maid For Each Other; the former is barely a duochrome, while the latter is clearly a multichrome.  They are both minimally brushstroke-y, but nothing too distracting (think OPI Just Spotted the Lizard).

Where to buy:  Both shades are Target exclusive shades and retail for $7.04 each.

Sally Hansen Loves Me Not

Today I have for you a polish from Prabal Gurung's Spring 2012 line for Sally Hansen.  Here's some background information on this line:

Prabal Gurung’s three-color Complete Salon Manicure collection features eye-catching brights and creamy pale hues with an edge that reflects the designer’s spring collection inspired by Nobuyashi Araki’s photographic series, “Sensual Flower.”On Prabal Gurung’s fall runway, models sported Loves-Me-Not, a deep plum.

2 coats, Loves Me Not.  First of all, OMG is this not absolutely gorgeous?  Loves Me Not is a black base packed with duochrome flecks that shift from blue-purple to pink-purple.  The flecks are so dense that the polish looks more purple than black.  I would actually classify this as a purple polish despite the black base.  When applying the polish, the polish actually looks gritty.  However, I didn't find it gritty once it dried.  With top coat, everything was smooth and removal was painless.

Overall, I love this polish!  I'm so pleased that...
a) the shimmer is strong
b) and clearly duochrome (no squinting required!)

I literally stood in my driveway and twirled.  I probably looked crazy, but you can see clear changes in the shimmer depending on how the sun hits it.  It's fun, I tell you.  Believe me, you need this. x)

I'm not a fan of the name because it makes me think of a certain song.  So it's a good thing one look at this gorgeous duochrome will make me forget everything! :)

Revlon Not So Blueberry: a scented polish

Whew!  Today was a busy day.  I have a quick post for you!  This one is like a review/ teaser.
I applied this polish at night, snapped a few pics knowing it'd look much more amazing in sunlight.  So I called it a night and went to sleep.  Unfortunately, I woke up with bedsheet prints on them! >.<  So I only have once decent pic for you.  Also while I was staring at my nails, waiting to fall asleep, I noticed this polish has some amazing duo?chrome!  It's like a light blue, pink, purple duochrome-y goodness!  For the most part you can't see this (I'm hesitant to label this duochrome), but in the shade at a certain angle...*sigh*...just prepare to be amazed. ^^  So...here's the not so great but something pic.

The formula was okay, this is three thin coats.  I'm pretty sure you can do two thick coats.  It's a shiny foil finish and it smells like blueberries!  Well the artificial kinds used to scent markers.  It's actually kind of strong, and I'm sensitive to smell.  It wasn't too bad for me though, it mostly made me realize how often my hand comes close to my face.  I'll post more pics of this when I wear it again, and I'll try to get a pic of the "duochrome" as well.

Have you tried any of Revlon's line of scented polishes?  Which ones, and what'd you think?

Gray's Anatomy loves black

I've already done a review of Wet n Wild's Gray's Anatomy, but who knew it looked amazing over black?  This is one coat of Gray's over two coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black. 

Lovely, yes?  Layering it over black made the colors really pop and strengthened the duochrome effect.  Plus, only 1 coat!

NFU Oh #53 - Like mermaids, summer, oceans, and sunsets

Gah NFU Oh flakies!  One of my friends went to Korea for spring break, so I asked him if he could pick up some NFU Ohs while he was there.  Yes, he.  NFU Oh is a line of nail polish created by a Korean nail artist, so I figured it might be cheaper in Korea.  It was 14,000 won, so it was actually around $12.50.  The plus was  I didn't have to pay for shipping.

Apparently it is the girliest store within the vicinity of a couple ridden city.  Now that I think about it, I remember walking past this store, which was why the name sounded so familiar to me.  Alas, I never set foot in it because it is the girliest looking store ever!  >.<  Sigh, again I wish I had been more into nail polish then (like almost 2 years ago).  Thankfully, my friend was brave enough to enter the store.  I asked him to pick up 51, 52, and/or 53 for me.  Unfortunately, 51 and 52 were sold out!  They really are popular.  He was able to get 53 for me, so here it is!

NFU Oh #53!  Isn't it just lovely?  *swoons*  This is the first polish that literally made my heart skip a beat when I saw it.  It's so gorgeous and I adore the cute bottle shaped like a bustier and skirt.  I just wish they'd name their polishes!  Oh and it's 17ml instead of the standard 15ml.  Yay :)  53 is a watery light blue with deep blue shimmer that gives it depth.  The flakies are duochrome and shift from pink to green.  The formula and drying time was excellent.  It is sheer.  Here I'm wearing it alone and with 4 coats it's still sheer.  I actually don't mind because the base color is so lovely, and the VNL kinda looks like a watery gradient.  Makes me want to be lounge around on a deck somewhere, sipping something cold and yummy while I watch the sun set below the cool blue ocean.  It doesn't help that it was in the 80s today either. :P

Blue shimmer!

You can see the flakies better in the shade.  See that delicious rainbowy-ness?  Wish I had a matte polish! 

Amazing, right? I had such a hard time picking pics.  Here it is layered over China Glaze First Mate.  1 coat of each.  The blue of First Mate really brought out the blue shimmer in 53 and made it glow.  I'd still like to look for a light blue polish to layer under - one that enhances the base color and keeps the watery jelly-like look.  Any suggestions?  Oh and the base blue is such a color shifter- shifting from light/mermaid blue to blue to periwinkle.  *love*

What do you think?  Overall, I'm a new fan of NFU Oh.  Can't wait to try out their holos and other flakies!  If you're not near a store, you can buy NFU Oh polishes at Fabulous Street.
