Hard Candy Jubilee

Ahhh look what came in the mail today!  I actually got several of the new Hard Candy polishes, which I immediately got to swatching.  I still have three more to swatch, so I thought I'd go ahead and show you this interesting fella named Jubilee in the meantime.

In case you didn't know, Jubilee is from one of the 45 new polishes Hard Candy just released.  This one's from the Crystal Confetti collection.  Before we get into the details of this polish, I want to point out a few new changes to the Hard Candy polish line.

Packaging:  I love the new packaging!  I think the black cap and label design is very sleek and cute.  Thankfully, the bottle is not as tall or thin as a Julep bottle.  I think these will line up nicely in my Helmer, and I love that the names are on top of the bottles.  Straight up and down bottles can be hard to distinguish in drawers (since you look down at the caps), so that's something I really appreciate.  The brush is also flat and wide, making the polish easy to apply.

Price:  In my press release post, I mentioned that HC polish is now $4 instead of $5, implying a decrease in price.  After receiving these, however, I noticed that the quantity has gone down from 10.3ml to 7.8ml (standard size is 15ml).  So in actuality, the price per ml has gone up, but only by 3 cents.  For comparison purposes, a 15ml Hard Candy polish would be around $7.70.

On to the polish!

Jubilee has a swampy green jelly base with fine black glitter, large black and silver glitter, and coral-red bar glitter.  Application was easy and none of the glitters had to be fished out.  In fact, there's a lot of glitter in here!  In all of my swatches, I'm wearing 3 coats with top coat.  Isn't it gorgeous?  I love funky greens like this and the combination of glitters are perfect.  But...I'm afraid there's bad news.  Here, I'll let you enjoy a few more pretty pics first. x)

Okay, here's the bad news.  Not sure if you could tell in my other pics, but the bar glitters don't lie down flat.  I tried to smooth it out with two coats of Seche Vite top coat, but some of my nails are still rather prickly.  I'm not sure if this is something Gelous can fix (don't own it), but I thought I'd point it out since it might be a deal breaker for some.  Basically the ends of the bar glitter are curling, and therefore, sticking up. :/  Right now I can't decide if this is a deal breaker for me.  I love the color so much, it's such a bummer.  Hopefully, it doesn't curl any more than this.

Jubilee, why must you torture me so?! :(  What do you think of this polish?  Would you still get it?

You can find the new Hard Candy polishes now at Walmart or walmart.com (in about 2 weeks) for $3.97 each.

  1. I love the colours in this polish. I am also not a fan of glitter not staying flat and sticking up. I think I love the colour of this one so much I would wear anyhow!

  2. I love this colour so much I would be willing to let the unruly glitter slide!
